Diving Honduran Islands 2026
I had a wonderful trip to Roatan where I, along with a bunch of Orlando Reef Divers, boarded the Roatan Aggressor and toured some islands off the coast of Honduras.
Roatan, Cayos Cochinos, and Utila islands
The flight down was relatively uneventful but the passport control when we arrived on Roatan took about an hour in a non-air conditioned queue. We were then shuttled to the Roatan Yacht Club, which is actually a resort and restaurant with a dock, where we waited until we could board the vessel. This is where we met up with a majority of the other guests that we would be spending the next week diving and dining with aboard the Aggressor.
The diving throughout the week was great. The weather was rather windy for most of the week which altered which dive sites we visited and when we did crossings but we still had a good variety of sites. We had two major wrecks and one smaller one that we dove. We also had walls, pinnacles, and a sea mount (mound). We saw tons of tropical fish up to what a I considered medium sized. Only a couple of nurse sharks (except for our shark dive). I good handful of turtle encounters. But the unique creatures such as toadfish, sea horses, octopuses, squid (sadly my camera died for those), and spotted eagle rays.
I had purchased a macro lens for my camera to get even closer to my subjects but I just could not figure it out on the trip*. This really frustrated me but I still enjoyed every dive.
Darren, dive buddy and bunk mate, and I ended up having issues with our room’s A/C but the crew was able to replace the unit (twice) and got it working. It then overworked and froze us one night but afterwards it was fine.
I did end up doing every single dive and therefore I earned Iron Diver status yet again. This includes the last day when I was starting to get some sinus congestion but an early dose of Sudafed cleared that up. The crew was amazing both very professional but very fun. The food was great even though the soup always came out way too hot.
The last night in Roatan the crew has the night off and therefore we went to eat dinner at the Roatan Yacht Club’s restaurant. I ended up getting sick due to my gastritis issue but I was fine afterwards and I was able to finish my fish tacos.
The final day I was definitely getting sick and Sudafed was doing very little to stop it. My flights went well but I was definitely stuffed up and coughing. I ended up making it home, ran out quickly to grab some food, took a shower, and went straight to bed.
Now for what you all are really here for my photos and videos.
