Texas road trip - day 1

Here I go chronicling another journey that I have taken this time it is to Texas to meet up with my family and have a wonderful family reunion. I decided that I wanted to drive out to Texas in order to see more of this wonderful country so I took an extra week off of work. I'm exploring a little bit along the Gulf Coast spreading from Florida to Texas as well as meeting up with some friends and enjoying the Big Easy. With that said here goes!

On my first day I was a bit of a slacker so I had to pack everything therefore I got sort of a late start. I journey from Central Florida over to the West Coast of Florida were my first stop was Cedar Key which is a small island north of Clearwater/Tampa area. I had lunch at a nice little place called Kona Joe's and then I proceeded my merry way up north. My goal was to try to hug as close to the coast line as I could although it's not as easy as it sounds as you're driving north along the West Coast. I passed through small towns like Apalachicola and Carabelle which were interesting  in their own special way. I finally made it to my destination in Destin,FL. I checked into my hotel and then one across the street to eat at a restaurant called The Surf Hut.

After dinner I decided to go for a very long walk on the beach because it was beautiful out the moon was bright and I just needed to get out water after driving all day long.

It seems that there something special about this beach which I had never seen any other beach. As the sun went down there was more and more people with flashlights and small nets. After asking someone I found out that there are shellfish or crawfish or something of the sort that come out at night and wash up on the beach and crawl around and all the little kids and tourists were trying to catch these little critters. I finished my walk, While listening to the podcast, Welcome to Nightvail, which lasted probably about two hous. I arrived back at the hotel where I settled in for the night and watched the little Game of Thrones.
