I previously stated that I was going to write here more but seeing the lack of posts that earlier statement was deemed untrue. So, let me try to rectify that with a quick bunch of updates.
On January 29th, I attended a townhall event for Representative Cory Mills because I wanted to be understand the mindset of who represents me in the US House. I got there early as it was listed as first come first served even though I had to RSVP. The event was an absolute shit-show. Rep. Mills, who currently has a bunch of scandals, was bombastic and seemed to thrive off of the negative reactions that he was receiving. I couldn’t stand his blantant lying and unadulterated support of the current administration so I left before the event ended. The protest outside of the event was amazing. This caused me to be resolved to not only vote against this man but also to help fund his opponent in the election later this year.
In a similar vane, I attended another protest (my third so far) on March 28th. This time it was in Downtown Sanford instead of Downtown Orlando. There were tons of people but it was spread all along First St. which is the main drag of Sanford. I saw an acquaintance drive up and park angrily along the road. He’s totally drank the Koo-laid that the administration doles out and he planted himself at a cafe table to watch the protest in a huff. I heard from others that he was flipping people off. I only saw two other counter protesters all dressed in black with face coverings. It was a great protest and shows that even in Seminole County there are people that can’t stand what our administration is doing.
Moving to more light-hearted topics. I recently bought a 2026 Rivian R1S Dual Max electric vehicle. I had been looking at electric vehicles for many years and had actually saved up a nice little nest egg allocated for that purpose. I originally wanted to buy a Tesla but due to the direction that the company has gone I decided to look for alternatives. Rivian fit the bill and I absolutely love the vehicle. It is the largest vehicle I have ever owned but it still fits in my garage. It’s Rivian Blue and has a moonroof that can be tinted. I had a charger installed in my garage which brings my per mile costs way down.
I took Bubba camping at a local regional park as I wanted to see how he would do if I wanted to travel with him and camp. He did pretty well as this was towards the end of February and there was a cold snap. I’m not sure how he’ll do when it is a bit warmer.
I have also been more involved with my HOA since I have been on the board. I’ve helped with the holiday decorations and some other smaller projects. We did have a bigger project of refurbishing some of the playground equipment which we just completed this last week and it looks much better.
On to entertainment stuff. Erin took me to see “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” at the Doctor Phillips Center in Orlando. This is a play based on the children of the characters from the iconic book series. It was amazing how they choreagraphed the scenes so well and had many illusion like effects that really brought the magic to life on the stage. The story was compelling although some of the dialogue was difficult to determine based on the accents being used or the audio not projecting clear enough. It was very enjoyable and I recommend seeing it if you are a Harry Potter fan.
Those are the highlights of the last few months. I’m working on writing up my experience on the Belize Aggressor from last October so be on the lookout for that. Now off to the dog park to give Bubba some exercise.
